Thailand Golf Championship in December

Thailand is very fortunate to boast a large selection of Championship golf courses, all the way from Phuket to Chaing Mai, Bangkok, Pattaya and Hua Hin. Although Thailand already hosts large tournaments on the LPGA tour, the highlight of the Thai golfing year is the Thailand Golf Championships, annually held at the Amata Springs Country Club on the outskirts of Bangkok.
This important Asian Tour ranking event manages to attract some of the world’s biggest players and names such as the charismatic Bubba Watson, Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and the ever-popular Spaniard, Sergio Garcia, who will all be playing at the Thailand Golf Championships between the 11th and 14th December 2014. Lee Westwood is actually a former winner of the event (2011).
The Thailand Golf Championships is the Asian Tour’s US$ 1 million flagship event. South African golf legend, Ernie Els, is also penned in to make his first appearance in the event. Ernie previously won a big event in Thailand at theBlue Canyon Country Club many years back.
The host venue, the Amata Springs Country Club, has been voted as the best course on the Asian Tour for the past 3 years running. Even Sergio Garcia has proclaimed his love for the course and can’t wait to get back to the ‘Land of Smiles.’
Thailand, especially Pattaya and Phuket, are home to some fantastic Championship golf courses. Red Mountain GC and the Canyon Course at Blue Canyon Country Club are Phuket’s stunning Championship courses. Pattaya’s selection include Siam Country Club and Laem Chabang CC.

If you are a golf-lover visiting Thailand during December, get yourself over to Amata Springs to catch some of the best golfers in the world. Alternatively, you can come to Phuket and enjoy an exotic golf holiday, because as golfers, we would rather play than watch!
